Hi,
You mention that you place a wind turbine that is driven from the air that enters the hood scoop. I am looking to do a 3rd level project on this sort of thing and I was just wondering that does the hood scoop not cause more drag than the power that the turbine creates, overall decreasing efficiency? The turbines behind the grille make sense as there is no new drag but with the hood scoop there is.
Would love to hear a response back.
Many Thanks,
Mark
Hi Mark,
Great to hear that you have your own project! To answer your question about drag, when you introduce a hood scoop there will be a small amount of drag but the real question is are you producing any alternative energy to off set that fact that there is a little bit of drag. The answer would be that in most cases the vehicle itself has weight and an obect that is in motion will have inertia behind it, so as long as you are not going up hill you can capitolize on the energy that you are getting from your other energy creating devices.
Let me know if this answers your question.
